Traditional Braces in Frisco & Prosper

Sometimes our patients need orthodontic care that is more advanced than simply straightening teeth. Dr. Walkington has incorporated traditional braces in his Frisco and Prosper practices that can address some of the problems that can arise when teeth have more complicated problems such as:

  • Crowding
  • Spacing
  • Overbite/Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open Bite

The jaw is a very complicated part of your body and when teeth don’t erupt into their proper alignment, the issues above can form. The only way to fix these complications is through traditional orthodontics. Making adjustments over time, Dr. Walkington will use braces to move your teeth into place. Once the treatment is over, your smile will not only look great, but also function like it’s supposed to do!

Your new smile is only a phone call away!

Why get braces?

Braces will improve your overall oral health, not only the cosmetic appearance of your smile. Crooked teeth can cause many issues over time that you might not realize are related. Only an experienced eye can determine whether your teeth should be straightening in order to improve your over all health. Traditional braces can fix issues like:

  • Jaw pain
  • Speech impediments
  • Difficulty eating

Traditional braces have improved a lot over the years. The treatment times are shorter, the wires and brackets have become sleeker, smaller, and much more comfortable. You will wish that you had gotten braces much sooner once you realize how much better your life can and will be!

Food to Avoid While Wearing Braces

While your braces are hard at work moving your teeth into alignment, you will need to adjust your diet to accommodate the addition of wires and brackets on your teeth. Certain kinds of food can get stuck behind the wires, which can be embarrassing, but worse can also promote tooth decay. Here is a list of the most common foods to avoid while wearing braces:

  • Sticky and hard candies
  • Hard & crunchy foods like corn chips, pretzels, and nuts
  • Sugary drinks
  • Gum
  • Popcorn
  • Sticky or hard chocolate

For a complete list of foods to avoid feel free to ask Dr. Walkington during one of your orthodontic checkups!
