A woman thinking if root canal therapy is a real tooth saver or not

Root Canal Therapy: A Real Tooth Saver!

You have tooth pain, so you call our office to make an appointment. As you are lying back in the chair, Dr. Walkington tells you that you need a root canal. Visions of drills and smoke swirling up around your head cause you to grip the arms of the seat as if you’re on a roller coaster. But there is no need to fear having a root canal! The tooth pain you are currently experiencing is more painful than the actual procedure.

What is Root Canal Therapy?

The reason you need root canal therapy is because infection has spread deep into the roots of your tooth into the pulp. During a root canal, Dr. Walkington will clean out the infected pulp and seal the tooth so that future infection is prohibited. A root canal is the best option for saving YOUR actual teeth, as opposed to having crowns or bridges. Any time we can save the integrity of your own teeth, it is a much better choice.

Gentle Root Canal Procedure

Dr. Walkington and the staff here at Wildflower Dental & Orthodontics will put you fully at ease from the moment you walk in the door. You will, of course, receive local anesthesia for the procedure, and we also offer sedation dentistry for our patients who need just a little more relaxation. Our top priority is to make your visit as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

We also offer flat screen TV’s and warm blankets in each room for a completely anxiety-free experience. Cozy up and watch your favorite show, and Dr. Walkington will be done with your procedure before you know it!
