Bathroom Organization 101

Bathroom Organization 101

Have you ever spent precious minutes in the morning searching for the floss, or something essential that you need to get ready? An organized bathroom can not only save you time, it will save you money. If you know exactly what you’ve got stocked in your bathroom, you won’t have to waste money repurchasing things you already have. Most of all, an organized bathroom will make you happy every time you walk in.

When our life is organized, it is easier to take care of ourselves. At night, when you’re tired after a long day at work, you may skip on important routines like brushing and flossing because you can’t find what you’re looking for. When you know exactly where things are, you will be able to stick to predictable routines and reduce your stress. The mornings and evenings will run more smoothly, and if you have small children, you will be able to help them get ready more easily too.

Here are a few tips for organizing your bathroom from top to bottom:

Take a before photo

Take a picture of your bathroom so you can see what it looked like before. Seeing the fruits of your labor will not only reward you, but seeing that before photo will prevent you from letting things get out of order again.

Remove everything from your cabinets

Here is where the organizing begins. Remove all items from your cabinets, drawers, and countertop, and start sorting them into categories. For example, you may categorize by hair products, makeup, shower products, towels, medicine, or cleaning products. If you have anything that doesn’t belong in the bathroom, this is the time to return it to its proper place. This is also a great time to throw things away that you no longer use or that are expired.

Give your bathroom a deep clean

Now that everything is out of your bathroom, this is the time to give your bathroom a really good deep cleaning. Wipe down all baseboards, clean the floors, wipe down the countertops, and wash any floor mats or dirty towels.

Organize by category

Create designated places for all of your products. Put all of your medicine on one shelf, or on one side of a cabinet. Baskets are very useful for keeping products together without cluttering shelf space.

Keep all of your dental products in one area. You can keep them on the counter where they are easily accessible, or you can put them in your cabinet, in a place that is easy to access. By maintaining a clean and organized bathroom, you will be able to find the most important things you need, including your toothbrush and your floss.
